
The Italian actress Matilda De Angelis won the best actress award for her leading role in “Atlas” by Ticinese director Niccolò Castelli at the Taormina Film Fest.
The young Bolognese actress, born in 1995, in fact received the award named “Maschera di Polifemo” (Mask of Polyphemus) for her role in the drama film “Atlas” by Niccolò Castelli at the event held in the Sicilian town from 27 June to 3 July.
The film was presented on 2 July in the presence of the actress and the director, states a note from Imagofilm Lugano, co-producer of the film with Climax Films (Brussels), tempesta (Bologna) and RSI.
“Atlas” tells the story of Allegra, victim of a terrorist attack in which three of her friends lost their lives. The 39-year-old director from Lugano was inspired by the attack of 28 April 2011 on the Café Argana in Marrakesh, in which 18 people died, including three young people from Ticino.
