For more than a century the Bindella family has been the largest importer of Italian wines in Switzerland.
This year, after two years of pandemic, Bindella brought together the finest names in Italian winemaking with an event of exceptional elegance. The most famous and most important Italian wine producers gathered for two days under Bindella’s expert guidance and presented their new releases. From Ornellaia to Banfi, from Ferrari to Nonino, to the Tenuta San Guido with Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta, a family that belongs to the elite circle of “Primum Familiae Vini” and produces the legendary Sassicaia, through to Vallocaia, the estate owned by Bindella.
In a welcoming and warm atmosphere, the programme offered five different tasting routes: Winzerinnen, Rising Stars, Perlen unter 20, Frisch &Spritzig, Die Schönsten italiener. A journey across the whole peninsula, discovering new aromas and flavours. Over the two days there were tasting masterclasses and panel discussions.
Particularly topical was the debate on sustainable and biodynamic wine production led by Corrado Maurigi (Tasca), Emilio Zierock (Foradori) and Luca Formentini (Selva Capuzza). The precious treasure of these growers is the terroir, which must be respected, nourished and preserved for future generations. Their pioneering project focuses not only on preserving the soil, but on every stage of the supply chain: from the search for lighter bottles with thinner glass, to reducing water consumption during production, to the use of recyclable and sustainable energy. “Of course this involves additional costs, which we do not pass on to the finished product: it is a conscious choice, with a long-term vision”, Corrado Maurigi of Tasca tells us.
Among the big bottles on show in the Podium room, a Nonino magnum stood out for its elegance and style. The history of the Nonino family, which goes back to 1897, puts women centre stage as protagonists and pioneers of the art of wine. Cristina Nonino tells us: “My grandmother Silvia was a pioneer; after my grandfather’s sudden death she found herself alone and carried the company forward, becoming the first woman to head a distillery, and that was in 1940! It is thanks to her and to her botanical knowledge that the Aperitivo Bianco Nonino was created. We are a family of women distillers and we carry on the tradition with joy and creativity! Today we offer L’Aperitivo Nonino BotanicalDrink, which takes up my grandmother’s recipe. A drink that aims to reach a young audience of consumers and that fits into the world of ‘aperitif cocktails’ with a note of typically Italian style and taste.” The energy and cheerfulness of Cristina Nonino are contagious and her Nonino aperitif is a note of unrivalled freshness and taste!
Rudi Bindella’s contribution, in a friendly exchange with Tama Vakeesan of SRF, closed the two days of Vini per Tutti and wished everyone a fine summer in the name of taste and good Italian drinking.
