Zurich is preparing to welcome the best of Italian winemaking. On Wednesday, October 7th, Papiersaal will host the Grand Tasting of Istituto Grandi Marchi, the event that brings together some of the most authoritative wineries of the Peninsula in a single setting, offering professionals and enthusiasts the opportunity to taste labels that tell decades, and in many cases centuries, of winemaking history.
The Istituto del Vino Italiano di Qualità Grandi Marchi was born in 2004 from the determination and enthusiasm of 18 wine families, among the most important production realities in Italy, united by the desire to spread the culture, traditions and set of ethical and sustainable values that constitute the excellence of Made in Italy wine. Family-run companies, active in the sector for at least a quarter of a century and in some cases for generations, which have been able to transform their own history into a common project for promoting Italian wine in the world.
Over the years, the association has built a widespread presence in international markets: during its 20-year history it has been an ambassador of Italian wine in the world through the organization of annual missions involving 31 countries on all continents. A journey that has included hundreds of international events and dozens of masterclasses and walkaround tastings, confirming the Institute's role as a reference point for promoting national winemaking excellence.
The Zurich event is structured in two distinct moments. From 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM a tasting is scheduled exclusively for professional visitors (B2B), with walkaround tasting among the stands of the eighteen producers present. From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM the same format opens to the general public (B2C), allowing anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge of great Italian wines to meet the producers directly and taste their labels. A selection of fingerfood will be available to accompany the tasting.
Eighteen realities will be represented at Papiersaal, covering the entire Italian wine geography, from Piedmont to Sicily, from Trentino to Puglia: Argiolas, Ca' del Bosco, Carpenè Malvolti, Michele Chiarlo, Col d'Orcia, Donnafugata, Jermann, Lungarotti, Marchesi Antinori, Masi Agricola, Mastroberardino, Pio Cesare, Rivera, Tenuta San Guido, Tenuta San Leonardo, Tenute Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari, Umani Ronchi. Names that, individually, represent some of the most prestigious denominations of Italian wine and which, gathered under a single banner, offer the Swiss public a complete overview of the quality and diversity of Made in Italy wine territories.
