There's a specific date to mark in your diary if you're in Switzerland and won't give up a good glass accompanied by real music: Saturday 19 September 2026, when Zurich's Hallenstadion transforms for one evening into an indoor Italian lounge. It's called Sound of Wine, organised by Vergani, the historic Zurich wine merchant based on Zentralstrasse, and this year the event is changing scale: after previous, more contained editions, it moves to the iconic venue on Wallisellenstrasse, where thousands of guests will gather for an immersive evening inspired by Milanese glamour, under the theme "A Night in Milan".
The concept, after all, is as simple as it is effective: music, light and wine tasting merge into a moment that gets under your skin, difficult to explain in words until you experience it. Don't expect the classic wine fair, with stalls in rows and white tablecloths: here there are DJ sets, live acts and a real light show, with technical direction entrusted to the team that curates the Art on Ice scenography, people used to working on stages much larger than the usual wine stand.
On the wine front, the level promises to be high. Vergani has already confirmed the presence of some of the best-known families in Italian wine: from Maria Zanella for Ca' del Bosco to Alberto Torelli and Carlo Frescobaldi for Collazzi, to Constante Planeta, who will personally bring wines from his Sicily. On the musical side, among others, Valentino Vivace and DJ Joe Rock, arriving specially from Milan, will take to the stage: a programme that alternates wine storytelling, glass in hand, with sets designed to make you dance, not just toast.
The ticket, as often happens at these events designed to be experienced at leisure, includes much more than simple entry: access to the Hallenstadion, unlimited wine tasting, live acts, DJ set and the light design experience curated for the occasion are all included. Those who want to experience the evening with even more ease can count on the Early Access formula, which brings entry forward by two hours compared to the official opening with a premium tasting in a more intimate setting, also useful for exchanging a few words with producers before the crowds arrive. For those who prefer a fixed point in the evening's comings and goings, there are the Tavolate: reserved table and aperitif platters, a comfortable anchor between one tasting and another.
A practical detail that's not insignificant for those arriving from outside the city: the ZVV ticket for zone 110 is included in every entry, so you can taste without thinking about parking or driving back. Prices start from CHF 94, with limited places and a tendency, confirmed by past editions, to sell out well in advance: booking early here isn't textbook advice but a useful indication.
Sound of Wine 2026 takes place on Saturday 19 September 2026 at Zurich's Hallenstadion, Wallisellenstrasse 45, 8050 Zurich, from 17.00 to 22.00.
To get there: tram 11 from the central station to the Messe/Hallenstadion stop, or buses 61, 62 and 94 from Oerlikon station. The ZVV zone 110 ticket is already included in the entry price.
