Michele Zarrillo, the Italian singer described as the poet of love, made his artistic debut as a guitarist and singer during the 1970s in the rock cellars of the Roman suburbs, founding the group “Semiramis”. In 1974 he is the lead voice of “Rovescio della Medaglia”, another important group of the musical avant-garde of those years. In the following years he also opens up to the world of pop music and expresses his strong compositional vein by writing songs for major names such as Renato Zero and Ornella Vanoni. He then continues with the recordings of his songs “Su quel pianeta libero” and “Una rosa blu”. In 1987 he wins the Sanremo Festival in the “Nuove Proposte” category with the song “La notte dei pensieri”. Shortly afterwards he will have very important encounters that will mark the start of a string of hits such as “Strade di Roma”, “Cinque giorni”, “L’elefante e la farfalla” and many other songs, like the reworking of “Una rosa blu” included in the 1997 album “L’amore vuole amore”, which will bring him to the consecration of his success with sales of more than 600,000 copies and over 120 concerts performed in just a few months. The by now established poet of love, with 13 appearances on the Ariston stage in Sanremo, loved by the wider Italian public and beyond, will go on to give countless concerts in Italy, Spain and other European countries as well as overseas.
