This year too, the Swiss-Moto recorded an extraordinary turnout. 70,000 spectators, among enthusiasts, experts and lovers of life on two wheels, thronged the Messe Zürich. Many were the moments of pure entertainment: the shows of the Fuel Girls, with fiery and spectacular choreographies; the world record attempt by Freddy Nock, who with his group of riders offered a unique mix of suspense and thrill, whirling inside a metal sphere with a diameter of just under 5 metres; or the Streetbike Freestyle exhibition, seasoned with out-of-the-ordinary jumps and acrobatics.

But the entertainment is merely a side dish to the main course, the gleaming motorcycle models, displayed under the spotlights like works of art of extraordinary power. In the whirl of new models and public enthusiasm, we noticed just how much wonder the new offerings of the Italian brands that have made history arouse, while they already trace the path of the future of speed on two wheels. Palpable ecstasy and an almost religious cult around the Ducati, Aprilia, Vespa/Piaggio, MotoGuzzi and MV Augusta stands.

Let us begin right at the Ducati stand, where it is the red of the Borgo Panigale marque that shines more than anything else. Great anticipation surrounds the presentation of the new Diavel: a unique design, with aggressive and muscular shapes, offering acceleration, power and extraordinary riding emotions, forever in the blood of the motorcycle manufacturer that is part of the Lamborghini group. In the Testastretta 11º DS engine, power, technology and Ducati's supremacy merge, without forgetting the comfort that distinguishes a touring bike. 162 horsepower ready to unleash maximum acceleration thanks to the Ride-by-Wire system: an enormous power reserve in the rider's hands. If you missed the Swiss-Moto show, you still have many chances to admire the Ducati new arrivals. We point out the presence of the Borgo Panigale marque during the final of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Lenzerheide from 12 to 16 March. At this international sporting event, the Ducati Monster 1200 and the 1199 Superleggera were put on show. And it does not end there. Do you want to test the Ducati novelties here in Switzerland? In April the “Ducati Red Truck Tour” sets off, touching the main Swiss cantons.

Let us stay in the shades of bright red, the flaming colour of Aprilia. The motorcycle manufacturer originally from Noale offers the public the new Tuono V4 R ABS, the fruit of the know-how acquired over years of winning competitions at the highest levels. Aprilia has managed to go beyond the RSV4, the innovative and unique benchmark sports bike. The new Tuono V4 R ABS, an increasingly exciting, effective and fun naked, is available in a single version fitted as standard with the best of the applicable electronics and in two colour variants, once again raising the bar of sportiness while at the same time becoming more comfortable for road use.

Turning our attention precisely to the Ligurian house Piaggio, which brings together under it Aprilia, Gilera and Derbi, we immediately notice the new shapes of the famous Liberty 3V, with the handy 125 and 150 displacements. The high-wheel scooter, among the most beloved in the world with over 800,000 units sold, is profoundly renewed, particularly in the chassis and the engine. This translates into more safety, more comfort, more performance, more space, with drastically reduced fuel consumption and running costs. Boasting a more unbeatable than ever value for money, further improved thanks to the windscreen and top case offered as standard, the Piaggio Liberty 3V flaunts a renewed style, well supported however by an unmistakable elegance. A very modern engine, appealing colours and a rich range of accessories for the fans of the Piaggio brand, a milestone in the history of Italian industry and mobility.

Speaking of history, and still at Piaggio, we come across a piece of our past, sparkling in its new spring version. Vespa offers the public the new Vespa Primavera. The dimensions in which this change takes place, always faithful to the original masterpiece of the mobility of the Italian miracle, are the new design, which offers a steel body with appealing lines, the lowered saddle for a comfortable footing on the road and an unrivalled riding stability thanks to the 11-inch wheels. The Vespa Primavera presents itself to the public once again, driven by an ultra-modern, agile and eco-friendly 125 cc 3-valve electronic petrol injection engine; and with appealing colours, ideal for being noticed while escaping city traffic, in pure Vespa style.

From the small, agile and city Vespa, we move on to the long journeys, where one is lulled by the stability and comfort offered by the very powerful new arrivals made in MotoGuzzi. The two California 1400, the Touring and the Custom, exert a disproportionate fascination in their majestic elegance. In the almost century-old dynasty of the house that bears the symbol of the Eagle, these two queens of the road triumph over long and short distances alike. One perceives the skilful touch of the design and the superb Italian engineering, which make the two motorcycles on display true points of reference in their respective categories. A sense of adventure and luxury, in perfect balance and harmony.

We close our journey, in the saddle of the Brutale 800 Dragster. In this climax of motorcycling emotions, of freedom of movement, of technological evolution and pure taste for riding on two wheels, the new arrival at MV Augusta lives and brings to life intense sensations between past and future. The Brutale 800 Dragster is the passing of the baton: it is memory, it is intuition, it is the motorcycling of yesterday, today and forever. Pure essence. Pure emotion. 100% Brutale.

In the news section that Tuttoitalia dedicates to Motors, you will always find the latest news on cars and motorcycles, with particular attention to the Italian brands that often represent the technological and engineering avant-garde of the automotive world. Whether it is the Swiss-Moto or the recent Geneva Motor Show, we want to celebrate the pride of Italian speed. An Italy that runs fast, on two and four wheels.
