Yesterday the prime minister Giuseppe Conte presented, at the end of a council of ministers, a decree law that establishes the rules for movement and confinement during the Christmas holidays.

  • The government has decided to establish a red zone throughout the national territory on 24, 25, 26 and 27 December 2020; on December 31 and January 1 2021; on 2, 3, 5 and 6 January 2021. Basically on the days before holidays and on holidays. On weekdays, however, all of Italy will be in the orange zone, with the modalities of the dpcm of 4 November.
  • From 21 December, any movement between regions is prohibited, even to reach second homes.
  • According to a monitoring by the Higher Institute of Health, for the first time in a month and a half the Rt index, which signals the spread of the virus, has not decreased: in the week from 7 to 13 December it rose from 0.82 to 0 , 86. To secure the hospital system in view of the third wave it would be necessary to bring it below 0.5 instead.
What the red zone provides
(24th, 25th, 26th e 27th december 31st december e 1st january 2021; 2nd, 3rd, 5th e 6th january)
  • Any movement, inside and outside one's municipality, is forbidden, except for work needs, situations of necessity and health reasons. To move, self-certification is required.
  • During public holidays, you can visit relatives and friends. Moving to private homes is only allowed for two people and once a day. You can bring with you children under 14, people with disabilities or not self-sufficient. Self-certification is always required.
  • The curfew remains in effect from 10pm to 5am.
  • For those who violate the prohibitions provided for by the decree, penalties ranging from 400 to one thousand euros are envisaged.
  • Retail commercial activities (shops, beauty centers) are suspended, except for the sale of food and basic necessities.
  • Newsagents, tobacconists, pharmacies, parapharmacies, laundries, hairdressers and barbers remain open. Places of worship can remain open until 10pm.
  • Sono sospese le attività dei servizi di ristorazione (tra cui bar, pub, ristoranti, gelaterie, pasticcerie). Sono consentite la ristorazione con consegna a domicilio e, fino alle 22, quella con asporto.
  • È consentita l’attività motoria e sportiva individuale nei pressi della propria abitazione.
