We interviewed Silvio Mignano, our Ambassador of Italy in Bern, who outlined for us the many ambitious projects planned in Switzerland for the current year and the year ahead. We will publish the full interview next week on www.tuttoitalia.ch and, in the meantime, we take the opportunity to report the message of good wishes addressed to the Italian national football team, which tonight at 9.00 pm will face Belgium in Munich.
“Playing against Belgium will of course not be an easy match,” Ambassador Mignano explains to us, “we are talking about one of the teams considered the strongest, in fact currently top of the FIFA Ranking.” Belgium is one of the big favourites of Euro 2020. “However,” he continues, “the Italian national team has been very exciting. It has won all four matches played so far. An achievement that adds to the 10 wins out of 10 in the qualifiers. So 11 consecutive victories, also counting a few friendlies as well. Therefore, 31 matches without a defeat, I believe it is an absolute record, surpassing even that of the legendary Pozzo. I am sure it will be an extraordinary match and that our Azzurri will play at their best. If the result we all expect were to come, we would naturally be delighted, as would the 60 million Italians and the 650,000 Italians here in Switzerland. It is a very strong wish, it being always understood that, whatever the result, we are pleased with the commitment our players have shown and will continue to show. So, Forza Azzurri.”
