“Ma..diamoci del tu!” by Enrico Brignano stops at the Volkshaus in Zurich on 20 April 2024, while on 21 April he takes to the stage of the Musical Theater in Basel.
A show that Brignano himself describes like this: “The formal ‘Lei’ is bureaucratic, you use it with the police or at the town hall, but the informal ‘tu’ that is replacing it is empty, it does not carry that real closeness, that familiarity I have in mind. That is why I open this show by using ‘tu’ with my audience: to create a closeness that is not a matter of form, but of substance. And that I am a man of substance should be clear just by looking at me; I also want to add that MA which resets everything, which cancels out distances, whether they are social, economic or generational.
And since I am in a confiding mood, in my show I allow myself to talk about unknown sides of my profession and about a personal story that ends up standing as an example for everyone... yes, because for the first time I have decided to talk about the disappointments, the false starts, all the NOs I have collected in my professional life, and beyond it. Always with a smile, of course, never taking myself seriously, but pointing out that everything is useful in life: even a rejection can strengthen us and make us what we are today.
Backed on stage by maestro Andrea Perrozzi, I talk; with the help of two ‘annoying’ but extremely precious presences, Pasquale Bertucci and Michele Marra, I keep on talking. And when they leave me alone on stage, I talk some more. Oh yes, I do have a lot to say. And sometimes to complain about, too. ‘But Mr Brignano, don't you know that complaining is typical of old people?’; ‘Of course I know. But in the meantime, you, whatsyourname... call me tu!’”
