What are the language and culture courses? They are courses funded by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and by the families' contribution. In these courses, pupils have the chance to strengthen their identity by deepening their knowledge of the Italian language and culture.
Why is attending the courses important?
• Knowing Italian better helps children keep in touch with their relatives and with their country of origin
• Through the courses, children born in Switzerland gain a better understanding of the culture and the way of life of their family and their country of origin
• Those who know their own language and culture well integrate better and are more open and attentive towards other cultures
• Mastering the mother tongue helps in learning foreign languages
• Pupils move more successfully and confidently between the two cultures
• A good command of several languages brings considerable advantages in the professional field
